The existing verification process was manual, time-consuming, and prone to errors; leading to increased chargeback activity and lost revenue.

• Have verification happen before Credit Card authorization to reduce authorization charges.
• Send 3rd part all order related information to help learn and grow with the customer base.
• Established monitoring and alerting systems for when issues occur.

Project Overview

Developed and launched a new surcharging product for business customers that successfully recouped lost processing fees and improved revenue streams.

Challenge

Business customers were using Credit Cards to pay for their orders, which was costing the company over $6 million a year in just processing fees.

Solution

• Integrated with 3rd party surcharging provider to allow business customers to pay with their Credit Card.
• Created new messaging and flow for customers using a Credit Card to pay for their order.
• Built integrations with Finance and Accounting to allow for the proper recording of the surcharge.

Results

• Recouped $5 million of the $6 million in lost processing fees
• Increased debit card usage by 10+%.
• Established a scalable model for future fee structures, future legal requirements, and future surcharging.

• Built out 70+ reports for automated data refresh and distribution systems
• Transformed parts of the data warehouse to have more accurate data
• Developed comprehensive roadmap for future reporting enhancements
